Feasters,

The following are some brief updates on matters relevant to the Feast Community. If you have questions about anything below, or want more info, please talk to any coach, or e-mail admin@feast-fitness.com, and we’ll get right back to you.

Community Update

Golf Outing:  Feast made a strong showing for the 3rd Annual Henry Michael Morgret charity golf outing on Saturday, July 20, fielding 4 teams of 4, and raising more than $1,000. What we lacked in talent, we more than made up for in enthusiasm and muscles. Thanks to everyone who participated, as well as everyone who coached and completed the Saturday WOD while the rest of us were on the links!!

"You Know You’re a Feaster If . . . .”: Please read and put into practice this section of the white board. These guidelines are designed to make the Feast experience great for you and the rest of the Feast community.

Committed Club: Beginning August 1, every Feaster who both reserves and signs in for at least 16 classes a month will earn “Committed Club” recognition for that month and be entered into a prize raffle. If you want to be in the Committed Club, make sure you’re both reserving and signing into classes! We'd like to give a special shout out to Vonda Paul, Kat Widup, Bear Utter and Coach Terri. Each have reserved and attended 16+ classes in the last 30 days!

Family + Friends Workouts: Beginning Saturday, August 10, and repeating at least once a month, we will have 10:00am workouts specifically designed to be more accessible to friends and family, and friends and family will work out free at that time. Please bring in people you’d like to experience Feast!

Featured Feaster(s): A special shout out to the Feast team that crushed the Row Raiser @ PXM and raised $500 for the Dancer Love Foundation!

Construction Update

Vote for a Bike Rack at Feast!: We have requested that CDOT put a bike rack on the concrete pad in front of Feast.  Please click through this link and then click the “support” button to encourage CDOT to approve our request. http://bikeparking.chicagocompletestreets.org/place/395663

Major Building Progress:Underground plumbing and most of the rough electrical work are done. We’re just waiting on the City to come do its inspection, and then we’ll be able to race ahead with the finish work. We’re prioritizing getting the bathrooms done. The finished build out will look a little different from what is on the cork board. We’ve decided to make all 4 of our bathrooms ADA compliant. That will give our members much more bathroom space, which should be especially helpful for getting dressed after showers. We will still have a large consult room for the InBody machine and meetings, but not two consult rooms as shown on the drawings. Most of the noise and dust is behind us, but we will need to cut an emergency exit door into the SW corner of the building. We’re trying to schedule that on a Sunday so that there is as little disruption as possible, but we appreciate your bearing with us.Please let us know what we can be doing better through this construction phase!

Nutrition Programming Update

We have completed our first round of Nutrition Roots seminars! Seminar participants will soon be assigned a coach, and will progress through Nutrition Habits. As a reminder, BTBN discounts all individual nutrition pricing by $15/month for Feast members.  Please talk to a BTBN coach if you are interested in individual nutrition programming—it is absolutely amazing, especially if you have a specific goal in mind (like decreasing soreness after workouts).Produce Give Away:  We hoped you enjoyed the golden kiwis. Because Clean + Abundant is our Nutrition mission, we’ll be handing out more healthy foods in the future. Help yourself, and ask us for ways to incorporate these foods into your nutrition! As a reminder, the Seminars, coached Habits, BTBN Office Hours, unlimited InBody access, produce give aways, and nutrition tips and tricks posted through our website and social accounts are all included in your membership.Stay tuned for an important announcement at the start of August regarding an acceleration of our Healthy Habits program and matching all members with a nutrition and fitness coach!

Fitness Programming Update

Bunz and Gunz produced tons of PRs and benchmark progress. If you didn’t PR, don’t stress about it—some days you hit your big number; others you don’t. What we can control is our Intention + Intensity each day we step into Feast:  progress will inevitably result from that. We are now in our “Enduro” cycle. The goal of this 8 week cycle is to build the engine, with a focus on (a) front squatting under fatigue, (b) learning how to pace different time domains, manage recovery, and improve higher skill gymnastic movements.

Skills Sundays:  Is there a CrossFit skill you’re trying to master? Periodically, we’ll set aside Sundays to focus on a specific skill. Be on the lookout for whiteboard postings, and let us know if there is a specific skill you’d like to see featured.

THANK YOU!!!

As promised, the Hard Hat phase has brought some noise and dust the past few weeks. But this Hard Hat Crew has demonstrated the Grit, Humility + Gratitude that is the hallmark of our Culture. Thank you so much for your patience, assistance, and support!!!
